Hi, Hennie,
I believe we have communicated before....anyway, I'm sorry to tell you that right now, we cannot take any more WWOOFers because of the drought in this area. This season's crops dried up! So we have to wait for the rainy season to start (usually in June) and then plant again. So, please check back with us in June and see what's going on!
Best wishes,

There is so much to know in that regard. After four years we are not sure what percent we know ourselves but we'd be glad to help you in any way we can.
As my son said once,"Mexico is perfectly imperfect." Some days, that seems to describe the vibrancy of life here -- and others, the bain of our existence. It all depends upon a person's temperament, energy level, worldview. In any sentient creature, those things are not static and therefore life here is bound to have its ups and downs.
As I said, there is much to discuss. Drop in whenever you wish.
You can get a fairly detailed google satellite view of our location by going to our website (www.ranchojixhil.com) and clicking on "where in the world." If you are driving that should provide your best route map. You can bypass Comitán by taking a left at the periférico just north of town at km 168. (There is a new Pemex and also a hotel under construction at the intersection.) Notice that you turn left again to go to Los Riegos about 100 feet before the intersection with the highway that connects Comitán to Altamirano.
If you are taking a bus or collectivo to Comitán and you don't want to pay taxi fare to the ranch (about 100 pesos) go to the church of San Caralampio in Barrio de la Pila near el centro and catch a collectivo or pickup to Los Riegos for less than ten pesos. They say CIOAC on the side. All of the drivers know us and will drop you off either at our front entrance or a side gate.
If our black lab (mix), Lolly, sees you entering the ranch she may bark but she will not be aggressive toward you.
A third alternative is to try to catch me in town. I work at an office near el centro almost every day. My cell phone is 963 105 3644 (telcel). Regina uses 963 114 0471 (movistar) at the ranch.
We enjoyed the visit too, Hennie. The sheep and chickens are in hog heaven - if you don't mind the mix of metaphors.
You will probably appreciate this: The people who put up and later took down the sign that we told you about now demand that we return it to them. They say they know we have it. You cannot invent this stuff.
Regina was traveling all day Friday and got settled on the ranch during the weekend. Yes, later this month would work perfectly. Whatever works for you is OK with us.
We are ready for you! I got the schedule below for Villahermosa to San Cristóbal:
Horario Tarifa Normal Tiempo Recorrido
07:00 $270.00 5:35
09:30 $220.00 7:20
12:00 $220.00 7:20
From San Cris. there is a bus almost every hour to Comitán. I got the schedule at www.occbus.com.mx. Yes, our phone numbers are the same.
See you soon. Steve

I'm at the office now. You are welcome to drop by any time you like. You can decide whether to go out to the ranch later this afternoon or to grab a colectivo near here (I can show you where). Regina will be at the ranch all day.
