Farm in the jungle of Tulum, Quintana Roo, México

Flor de la Vida aspires to be sustainable eco farm in the jungle of Tulum, Quintana Roo, México.

We started with 5 hectares of raw jungle almost 10 years ago and so far have been able to build 2 sustainable houses (running on solar energy, rain water and with grey and black water treatment), a common kitchen and animal raising and farm area, plus a palapa, where the volunteers will stay.
I say aspire, because mother nature has taught us that despite our ideas, her higher consciousness and plans are greater than ours.
We had all our chickens and turkeys killed last year by a mother jaguar and her cubs, and also lost most of our crops due to floods and then a delay of the rain season. An irrigation system is been created to avoid those issues.
So little by little we have been able to get the animal and agricultural operation up and running again.
Another big challenge we face, is creating our own soil as the land is so close to the beach, and sits on a huge limestone terrain that natural soil is hard to come by, besides the fact that in rainy season is a flooding area and forces us to build raised farming beds.
We are currently seeking 2 to 3 volunteers for periods of 3 weeks, to contribute to the soil generating process (gathering leafs, compost creation and maintenance, etc) and the construction of the raised farming beds (gathering rocks, building the bed walls with cement, etc.).
We will offer the volunteers: local food suited to their needs, 3 meals, hammocks, mosquito nets and basic jungle living needs (composting bathroom, shower and wifi in the nearby house.).  Working hours would be from eight in the morning to two in the afternoon.
Our only requirements are positive energy, willingness to learn, work hard and sustain the harsh midday sun.

I'm Amit, 24 Israeli currently living in Europe.
I'm arriving in Mexico in mid-December and interested in working/volunteering in your farm.

I worked in agriculture for a year (back in Israel, worked in agricultural therapy for youth with behavioral difficulties), very curious about permaculture, and also experienced with arts (studied in Amsterdam).
I'm a hard worker and very open to learning.

Please let me know if it's possible to come and take part.
Planning to work for at least 3 weeks - month.
I have my own hammock with me.

Looking forward to your response, also sent you an email.

I am a college student in environmental studies. I would love to work at your farm. Here I would be able to learn about farming practices and learn more Spanish.

I would like to work there between the days of May 9- May 27. I wanted to know if you had space during that time?

I would love to learn more about your farm and maybe ask you a couple of questions.

Thank you ,

Hello Luisa!

My name is Jeanne, I'm 23 years and I'm from France. I decided to travel around Mexico during my holidays, because I had heard so many beautiful things about this country that I wanted to explore it.

I am now in Puerto Escondido where I'm not going to stay more than two more days. I am looking for a wwoofing because I like what a wwoofing experience offers: meeting people when learning new skills, feeling home at the farm and helping around.

I have some experience of wwoofing on organic farms, from when I was travelling in Canada.

I am eager to learn more and to give the best I can. I woud love to come at your farm, I'll be available next week!

I don't speak a very good Spanish but I am learning fast!

Let me know if you want to know more about me :)

Thank you!!
