Just so you all know, we are about to start a huge reforestation project which will take up the next few months, there is a lot of exciting new lo-tech projects happening with different engineers from a nearby university all with an aim towards becoming more and more self-sufficient.
LOCATION : 10 minutes from Tepoztlán, Morelos and 1 – 1 ½ hours from Mexico City.
TRAVEL FROM MEXICO CITY: Take a bus from The Tasquena Bus Station to Tepoztlán and then take a Taxi to our gate
LANGUAGES SPOKEN: English and Spanish
ACCOMMODATIONS: Volunteers live together in a large bungalow complex with a beautiful view. Volunteers buy and prepare their own food (average $20 - 30 USD a week depending on personal diet).
Tashirat is an Ashram and Yoga Learning Center set on 42 acres of beautiful mountainside fields and wooded areas. Tashirat has a “green”, high quality, family-style orphanage as well as a new community school for impoverished children. We are working to become completely self-sufficient and we would love your help!
The Tashirat Volunteer Program offers spiritual aspirants the opportunity to live in the beautiful Tashirat Ashram setting, as well as receive classes and guidance in exchange for service work. Volunteers serve six hours a day, six days a week. Our volunteer program is ideal of service oriented individuals seeking strength, clarity and inspiration on their chosen path. Volunteers who take full advantage of the opportunities offered in Tashirat are able to deepen their practice and enter an intensive experience that can be quite life transforming.
Currently we are giving our organic farming a big push in our home gardens and green house. May - July 2010 we will need help with our reforestation project, planting 1 - 2,000 trees. There are many areas of service in Tashirat – childcare, tutoring (if fluent in Spanish), workshops and sports with the children of the Tashirat Orphanage or Ixaya School, general maintenance, cleaning and cultivation. Experience in the above areas is preferred, but as long as you are an exceptionally willing and positive worker we can use your help! Please let us know if you have any special talents or skills that you would like to share.
We offer access to our extensive English library, free Yoga classes five days a week and additional guidance in Nutrition, Yoga, Meditation, and the Chakra Life Lessons through written communication with Tashirat teachers.
We ask that all WWOOFers commit to at least a one month stay but we prefer longer stays. We need flexible volunteers that are willing to help in any area needed since there are times when ther is no cultivation work. Please only apply if you are an enthusiastic, positive, independent volunteer with great work ethic and energy!

Hi there!
Your community sounds like an interesting place to live and work,
I will be in Mexico City in as little as two weeks, and would love to travel to volunteer with you for 6 to 8 weeks if that is convenient.
I have recently joined WWOOF Mexico and look forward to being able to support the work of organic farms such as yourselves.
I have little experience beyond my own small vegetable patch at home but I am very willing and keen to learn and certainly not afraid of hard work!
At the moment I am trying to pick up some Spanish and hope to improve it during my stay.
I would really appreciate it if you could get back to me as soon as you can so that I can confirm dates in the next week or so,

Hola, su finca me parece perfecto- quiero WWOOF al fin de mayo para unos cuatro o seis semanas. Voy a terminar mis estudios a la universidad en mayo, y quiero aprender más sobre la agricultura orgánica. Viajo con una amiga, y buscamos un lugar donde la tierra, el espíritu, e el cuerpo son juntos. Espero que tenga trabajo para nosotros, espero su respuesta. ¡Gracias, y paz!

Me llamo Diana y soy de Nuevo Mexico aunque estudio por ahora en Nueva York. Quisiera ir a Mexico por el mes de agosto y trabajar con ustedes. Planeo llegar allí el primer y devolver el 30 o 31.
Estoy tratando de aprender español y por eso tengo que preguntarles, ¿que lengua usan en su finca? Me gustaría estar absorto en el español y no tener la opción hablar en inglés. ¿Es una posibilidad con ustedes?
He trabajado en una granja hace tres años por dos semanas pero mi conocimiento de cultivar es muy limitado. Tengo poco experiencia con irrigación y cuidado de tomates pero eso es todo. Estoy entusiasmado aprender más y ayudarles en cualquier manera que puedo.

AMAZING! I'm so excited. I'm driving to mexico at the end of the month and wwoofing and camping all the way down. I plan on visiting the coast for awhile and then I hope to visit Tashirat for 2 months during december and january. i've sent in a volunteer application and hope to hear from you soon.
