I am 27 years old and an anthropology student from switzerland and looking for an occasion to volunteer in my summervacation 2009.(1 month in july/august) I am currently preparing an exhibition in a student project about shadow puppets from India, china and turkey. ( see: http://www.musethno.uzh.ch/de/ausstellungen/2008/schattenwelt/schattenwelt.html) I also prepare a workshop for kids, where they can create their own shadowpuppets. beside that, I love animals and organic food. I grew up with many cats and dogs. My mother she teached me how to respect our nature and how important it is to have an environmental awareness. We run our own small but organic garden. I also do horse riding, yoga, meditation, slacklining, rockclimbing, snowboarding, dancing, etc.. I ve never volunteered before but I hope that this experience will not fall through cause of rainseason...;-) I am really looking for a quite place where I can learn and work for a good cause. I d like to be in charge for gardens and animals, cooking, giving some workshops in slacklining, shadowpuppets or wathever. I think I would match perfectly into your community and Idea of living. please send me an answer if its possible and to stay during the period I wrote. If so, I can still send you more information about me. thank you! kind regards Gabriela Karski

Hola,
Saludos,
Diana

Jackie and Bill Robson Comment by Jackie and Bill Robson on October 4, 2009 at 1:34pm
Greetings,
My name is Jackie Robson and my husband is Bill.
We would like to volunteer as WWOOFERS during the months of January through March 2010.
Our background information;
We live in Victoria, BC, Canada. While at home, Bill works as a Realtor and I'm a Horticulturist\Community Garden organizer. We're both very active volunteers – Bill is on the board of a community development organization called Innovative Communities.org. I work and volunteer in several community garden projects in town. We're very interested in alternative building and energy systems, co-housing, organic gardening and most recently, raising urban chickens.
We've spent 3 winters, working as WWOOFERS in Costa Rica, traveling to several other central american countries, learning Spanish.
We kept returning to the farm in Costa Rica,(The Ark) having become friends with the owners. It has been difficult reaching Tommy since his wife Pat has died so we don't know if we can provide a reference there.
We spent another 2 winters in Guatemala living/volunteering/studying/making rich friendships with the spanish speaking Mayans. We could provide a reference from the Spanish school that we volunteered for in San Pedro. Contact Javier at javier.navichoc@gmail.com

We both love to work, gardening, painting, animal caretaking, you name it, while maintaining a balance between work and play. Looking forward to another warm Mexican winter and using our rather rusty Spanish again.

Hola!
My friend and I will be traveling to Mexico during the winter months of December 2009- March 2010. We are going to be Wwoofing on a farm in Chiapas in January, so we would love to Wwoof at your farm either during December or February, if possible. We are both avid learners and the organic farm lifestyle is something we both plan to pursue in our future, and we believe this would be a great step toward that. We work hard always and can easily balance work with play. We are very responsible and respectful toward our host and what they provide us with. We understand that to recieve, you must always give first. Also, we can't wait to freshen up on our spanish skills. We've had four years of lessons, but arn't fluent quite yet. :)

We would love to stay a couple weeks to a month working at your farm, so let us know what would work best for you. We believe wwoof is a great oppurtunity to experience a different kind of culture, and we would both be very grateful to participate and learn about the farms involved with it.

Thank you,
Hope to hear from you soon! Carly and Sarah
