Ecological farm self sustaining
We have a 3 story Palapa with an Outdoor kitchen. We are now constructing a Restaurant. There are several properties we are developing, some are for growing vegetables and others are for fruit trees. We make our own compost for the garden. Our goal is to be self sustaining and in the future have Solar Power. We use downed trees from the jungle to make handcrafts and wood art. We had a swimming pool and converted it into a fish nursery.

When you come to help us, we give you a room in exchange for 2 hrs. work and for another 3 hrs. 1 basic meal. There are some small stores and a bakery nearby. You have use of the kitchen to prepare your meal. Clean up afterwards is your responsibiliy. We have a well and electricity. There is an outdoor community bathroom and shower.

There are many things to see in the area, especialy Mayan Ruins. We have some on our properties. Mosquito repellent is a good idea.

We don't have internet but there is an internet cafe and library, both are about 3 block away.

Harry

I'm a first time woofer who has been living and teaching in Spain for the last two years. Before I moved to Spain i worked as a landscape gardener for 3 years, I don't know alot about Sustainable farming methods but I have practical experience in groundwork, construction and planting. I'm looking forward to doing some manual labour again and i want to learn more about resourceful farming and gardening. I will be in Mexico at the start of November and would love to help out at your farm.

Hola,

I’d love to help your farm in any way I can. I’ll be in Mexico from November on. I have experience in organic farming with planting, weeding, composting, digging out beds, irrigating and harvesting crops as well as minor construction, bee-keeping and maintenance work. I have also worked in landscaping and road maintenance.
I’m traveling with a Chinese girl who is as excited to learn from the culture of organic farming and Mexico on the whole as I am. This is her page: www.wwoofmexico.org/profile/XiLin?xg_source=profiles_memberList
I think hard work is measured in sweat and a well done job the greatest reward and we would love to share in your experience.

Hola,

My name is Jimmy Videle, 38.From 2005-2009 I was owner and operator of an organic farm in Northern Arizona, Moonrise Farms. We grew over 200 varieties of vegetables and herbs, raised chickens for eggs and raised Nubian Goats for milk and cheese production. Since Jan. 1st, 2010 I have been wwoofing at three different farms in Hawaii. I have experience in many different aspects of organic farming from soil building to post-harvest handling and direct marketing.
My friend Melanie Bernier, who also wwoofed in Hawaii, and I will be traveling in the Yucatan in Mid-January 2011 and would like to wwoof on your farm.
We are both very hard-working, fun, and eager to learn about farming in Mexico. Let me know if you could use us.

Thanks,
Jimmy

Hola, me llamo Amanda.

Hi,

My name is Meghan and I am 20 years old from Chicago, IL. I am studying to be a Special Education teacher and to earn an an Environmental Studies degree. I have taken classes on Sustainable Development and Green Living and because of what I've learned from them I find myself living life in a very simplistic manner. I am especially in touch with nature and love to share my knowledge about it with others. I grow a lot of my own vegetables and take pride in knowing where my food comes from. I am very hard working and physically fit. I enjoy spending time with people and learning about cultures different than my own. I would love to have the opportunity to work along side with people who have similar interests in what I do. I know a bit of Spanish but I hope to improve greatly during my visit.

I am looking to work on your farm for an extended period of time, from the end of November to middle/ late December.

Please get back to me,
Meghan Schmit
