I am interested in establishing raised beds for an organic vegetable and flower garden. I cannot be there from April until October and would like to find someone with gardening experience who would make a six month commitment to this project. The house is small and brand new, with lovely curves, sleeping alcove in one large room, kitchenette and composting toilet. Rent is normally $330 per month, but I would only ask for $150 and work trade. It is a wooded property, located in a friendly rancho outside of San Miguel Allende in the high desert country. I bought it 8 years ago, and it has taken me this long to pay off the original loans and raise a small but magical house. There is a well with good water. Property is about 1/3 acre. Have access to irrigation water from artesian spring that abutts property. Now I really want to put in a garden, but I have to go home to work for six months. Looking for the person who can love this spot of earth as much as I do. Rainy season will begin around May or June. Now the country is blossoming sweet perfumed yellow mesquite and guisache.

Hey I will be around in May to July and am investigating opportunities. I know SMA, and am interested in your project.

hola,

I'm aaron and currently living in San Francisco. I've joined wwoof Mexico and was an active member of wwoof here in the states a little bit more than a year ago. I stopped at a few farms/community gardens while traveling down the coast towards San Diego with the intention of continuing onto Mexico.

My last trip has had much influence on my current endeavors spurring me to not only start my own indoor nursery, but also rooftop gardening, herb drying, as well as the construction of interchangeable designer planter boxes. All of it is focused on urban gardening alternatives.

My last wwoof stint was not always so glamorous, and I know there is work to be done on any farm. At one of my farms I learned the farm owner's compost recipe, had many days shoveling and applying a compost treatment to his many fruit trees. At another I was more of an all purpose handyman, transplanting plants from a nursery, fixing things (like a water pump for a fountain), pruning, making compost, as well as woodworking (I left a planter box as a gift), which is another skill I bring. In my attempt to build planters in the last year I’ve not only apprenticed with a cabinet-maker, taken a furniture making class, and have begun the process of creating a body of works.

I’m hardworking, love to work outside off of the "clock", and have been to Mexico before. It was not farming related but I did stay down in San Miguel D'allende for a bit. My Spanish is rudimentary but I’ve taken a class a few years back and I’ve worked in a few cafes here in s.f which means I have my fair share of kitchen conversational Spanish.

As of now I am headed south in August and wanted to know what your needs are around then? I am eager to be more fluent in Spanish and eager as well to reinforce my current path with more sustainable and innovative practices. Please be in touch if we are on the same wavelength.

Hola, I will be visiting SMA in the next 10 days, perhaps I *Elvira( can help you with your garden project? I have been wwoofing in Hawaii, not much of organic farming in Nayarit, but would love to help! I do have a dog, almost a year, she's very friendly, not a digger of plants, good guardian, understands Spanish English and Polish. I hope to hear from you soon!
