Farm in Tlachichilco, Lake Chapala, Jalisco

We are Canadian citizens living in the Lake Chapala area and are in the process of slowly developing a 10 acre organic farm. We do not have previous experience in farming but have done much travelling and study of the organic process.  Presently new fields are being cleared of stone and rock to build fences and raised planting beds. Worm compost, water reservoirs, green house facility and earth based cottages are planned for the future. With the ideal weather solar will eventually be used to heat water,create power and dehydrate fruits. We are also running a small sourdough bread bakery which serves the local market.  Volunteers who speak Spanish will be helpful as we are not bilingual.  Our location is 10 Km East of the town of Chapala near the villages of San Juan Tecomatlan and Tlachichilco, and about 45 minutes from the Guadalajara airport. We have immediate need for experienced volunteers and have comfortable housing available.  Please note this is a vegetarian facility, alcohol and smoke free.
