Description: This jackfruit orchard is the largest in the Yucatan Peninsula, in the town of Solferino, 14km from the port of Chiquilá, close to a national protected reserve. 12-hectare farm grows jackfruit, considered as a miracle fruit. Also have: guanabana, caimito, mamey, black sapote, nance, and also several gingers.
Work: We need hands to harvest (during season), do deep pruning, compost, mulch, and apply organic fertilizer and irrigation. Help us with animal care of pet refugee.
Accommodations/meals: Lodging is 1km away from the farm in a very nice house where a pet refuge is held and many dogs are received for medical care and given for adoption (we also have three raccoons). The house has 6 rooms, 3 bathrooms, hot water, kitchen, living room, dining room, terrace, big yard. You can always use the kitchen and mainly vegetarian food will be available for you to cook, you can also have as many fruit as you wish from the farm. Bring protective clothing for work in orchard (boots, jeans and t-shirts). Smoking, pets, and couples are allowed. Minimum stay: 2 weeks without a maximum length. Weather is hot, tropical and very humid, Light cold in the night. There is no mobile signal in the town, have wifi in the house and in some areas of the town.
